Modular Systems Thinking

Introduction:

In this episode of Disrupt and Innovate with Lisa Levy, I share my journey from CTO roles at the LA Clippers and United Talent Agency to building a global venture studio focused on reducing the barriers to entrepreneurship. We dive into how AI, structured frameworks, and strategic partnerships can accelerate innovation—especially for founders without MBAs, tech backgrounds, or access to Silicon Valley. I reflect on why “failing fast” isn’t just a tech buzzword, how one missed pitch changed the way I advise others, and how a jam session can unlock a global solution. This is about creating systems that empower people—no matter where they live or what their background is—to build, test, and pitch bold ideas.

Key Topics Covered:

Innovation at Speed: From Idea to MVP in 90 Days

One of my core beliefs is that we’re now in an era where anyone—with the right tools—can take a concept from idea to MVP in 90 days or less. I built my original AI-powered SaaS platform to fast-track that journey. It helps people go from napkin sketches to full business plans, market analyses, and pitch decks—quickly and confidently. My goal is to eliminate guesswork and empower more builders to move with speed and clarity.

Fail Fast, Pivot Smart

“Fail fast” isn’t just a phrase to me—it’s a core part of how I help founders validate their ideas. I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) that holding onto an “ugly baby” idea can be more harmful than moving on. By creating structured jam sessions and feedback loops, I encourage people to find out what doesn’t work as early as possible—so we can zero in on what will.

Relationships Are the Real Currency

One of my proudest moments wasn’t tied to a pitch I made, but to a casual conversation that turned into a million-dollar opportunity for a founder I was mentoring. I’ve learned that if you focus on building authentic relationships—rather than constantly trying to sell—opportunities come naturally. In a weekend, I made introductions that changed the trajectory of a company. No deck, just trust and timing.

Turning Local Ideas into Global Solutions

Working with the UN and other global partners, I’ve started expanding our platform—now called GrantMate—to help citizens around the world submit grant applications and protect their intellectual property. Whether it’s a founder in Nebraska or a community leader in Ghana, I’m passionate about reducing friction so brilliant ideas can actually get funded and scaled. We’re talking about generating virtual GDP in communities that are often overlooked—and doing it in a way that’s gamified, fair, and repeatable.

Conclusion:

My mission today is about more than tech. It’s about creating systems that break down the traditional gatekeeping around entrepreneurship and investment. Whether I’m advising investors, mentoring founders, or building with the UN, I’m focused on clarity, speed, and equity. Innovation doesn’t need to come from San Francisco to matter—and with the right frameworks and relationships, anyone can move from idea to impact. If you’re ready to build, I’m here for the jam session.
